Derek Alfonso's Tech Tips and Hobbies

My name is Derek Alfonso, I am a technical consultant by day, the host of a radio show called The Power of Information on the America First Radio Network, and I'm an audio engineer and an accomplished producer of music videos and feature films, including Assistant Director, Composer, Steadicam Operation, Editing and Special Effects credits. Enjoy some of my (hopefully) insightful Tech Tips or my (seemingly) random posts about hobbies like MMA, Skiing, or Scuba diving.

Hurricane Ike headed for Houston

This is the place for the best resources to track Ike on the Internet as it heads into Houston:

If you live here you likely would like to know how bad the damage could be to your home, use this website to see the forcasted maximum sustained wind speed in your zip code and what types of damage to expect.

A great website called Weather Underground has a fantastic map that shows the course of Ike and I've linked to a version in which I've turned on an animated infrared satellite. This is the best website in my opinion primarily because they get their data from multiple sources and show the differences between the forecasts.

This is a great, and rather large, satellite animation of Ike from the Accuweather.

NOAA National Weather Center of course is the source of much of the information on other sites and is often updated first, unfortunately their imagery is often less intuitive.
